ROSE CECILE CHAN TO MARRY AUG. 31

Rose Cecile Chan, a second-year law student at New York University, and Warren Randall Loui, an associate in the New York law firm of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, plan to be married Aug. 31, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Chan of Taipei, Taiwan, have announced.

Miss Chan, the 1978 valedictorian of the Taipei American School, graduated from Stanford University in 1982, the year after her fiance received a combined M.B.A. and law degree there.

Her father is in the export-import business in Taipei. Her mother, Jovita Chan, is an elementary teacher at the Dominican School in Taipei.

Mr. Loui, a son of Dr. Wallace W. F. Loui and Dr. Florence Chinn Loui, both of Honolulu, graduated from the Punahou School in Honolulu and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His mother, a physician, is a medical consultant to the department of Social Services and Housing for the state of Hawaii. His father is a physician in Honolulu.
